Chalk it Up

Chalkin’ bout style.  Chalkin’ bout creativity.  Chalkin’ bout chalk!  Lately, I have been obsessed with chalkboard paint.  Ok, that’s an understatement.  If I had it my way, everything would be coated with chalkboard paint.  From floor to ceiling.  Everything. ….For reals.

This delightful medium is versatile & it’s an easy DIY.  It has a million different uses!  Paint walls to doodle messages to your loved ones at home, encourage your kids to actually draw on the walls in the play area, spruce up your bedroom by drawing a new headboard every month, or stay organized with a wall calendar in your home office.  The possibilities are endless, but don’t feel like you’re cornered into painting just walls.  Since this is tricky paint to remove (especially from rented apartment building walls), paint some small favors or accents around the house!  Some of my favorite uses are found on everyday items: planters that can be used as table numbers for weddings or to label your herb garden, small animal figurines (like…oh say, a DEER!), globes with chalked-in dream destinations, personalized mugs, wine glass stems, coffee tables, or labeled jars.  This paint can give a small budget event a fancy personal punch!  Head to the thrift stores & see what can use a little refurbished love.

Here are some of the most innovative uses I’ve seen so far:

Chalkboard paint, that’s what I’m chalkin’ bout.
