Thanksgiving Theme: Cabin In The Woods

This year my husband & I are hosting Thanksgiving. The honor fell to us when my husband’s former graduate-school/post college roommate announced he was coming back for an LA visit AND one of my very best friends from home was able to make the cross-country venture for Turkey Day.

And what can I say…I love an excuse to throw a dinner party. So I’ve been working hard on putting together this year’s Thanksgiving plans and about a month ago we settled on the theme Cabin In The Woods. Not just because we enjoyed the movie but because I’m currently obsessed with all things tartan, flannel and woodsy (mostly since we returned from Ireland in September). I also like the thought of a very intimate but comfortable holiday. Take a little looksy at my inspiration board that I’m drawing from below!

We will see how closely I get to matching my inspiration when the big day rolls around next week. There’s still work to be done on the menu, but all our guests are bringing a dish along with them which I really feel brings everyone at the party a little bit closer together (we’re currently all contributing to a menu through Google Docs – can’t have any repeat dishes!).
